TOURNAMENT

As we have a lot of new members, I thought it might be worth reminding you all to sign up for the Christmas Tournament, which is taking place on Monday 12th December. Andy will be taking the names away for handicapping next week, so if you haven’t signed up, you’ll miss out. We need everyone to be here ready to start by 7.00 on that night, so if you are going to be late please ensure you let Andy know. Also if you have entered the tournament, please don’t pull out without letting Andy know – because it just might be possible to add another member into the draw.

DATES FOR 2012

Our last night of badminton for 2011 is Monday 12th December. We are having a slightly longer than usual break this season because the school need to use the sports hall for exams. Therefore our first night back will be Monday 23rd January. But to make up for this we shall be playing right through until the end of April, and the last night and the end of season tournament will be on Friday 27th April. Team Captains need to remember they do have some matches before the 23rd January.

ROSS OPEN TOURNAMENT

We shall be holding the Ross Open Handicap Tournament on Sunday 12th February. This is open to all local leagues, but we do hope Ross members will put in as many teams as possible. This means getting together teams of 2 men and 2 ladies. Entry forms will be available in the New Year.

Finally, the Committee all hope that you have enjoyed the season so far.

HALL UPDATE – NOVEMBER 2011

We have now got a roof that doesn’t leak, new lines on the floor, a repainted hall (albeit perhaps a little light in colour) and brand new lights. The only complaint we have since heard is that it it too light – some people are never happy !!

End of Season Tournament

This was held on Monday 18th April, and Jacky organised an excellent tournament, which was well attended. Everyone had lots of games, the scores at the end were close but James Sibbet won the tournament, Lee was second, Mike A third and Ryan fourth. Special mention should be made of Bela who got the same number of points as Ryan, but lost on countback of games won. Thanks to Jacky for all her hard work, and to all who entered.

ROSS MINI TEAM HANDICAPPED TOURNAMENT - apart from the fact that we were down to 2 courts because of the heavy rain, all those who entered enjoyed the day, and there was some fierce competition. The tournament was eventually won by one point in the final game by ‘Fourfit’, which was a team captained by Gina with members from St Whites, Glos Stars and the Gwent team. St Whites themselves were runners-up. Thanks to all of you who entered. We’ll try and find somewhere with a good roof next year – perhaps the roof at John Kyrle will have been done by then – fingers crossed !
